Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest social and charitable organisations. If you love rugby, whether you play, coach, referee, volunteer or cheer from the touchline, we'd like to meet you.
What is Freemasonry?
A society of men concerned with moral and spiritual values, who meet as equals regardless of background, and who give generously to charity.
Members learn its principles through a series of ritual dramas, performed in the lodge and following ancient forms. After each meeting we dine together at the Festive Board, where the friendship really starts.

Have a chat
Meet a couple of members for an informal drink, perhaps at a club or a match, and ask anything you like.
Meet the lodge
Come along to a social or a club event where the lodge is present and meet the brethren and their families.
Proposal and ballot
You are proposed and seconded in open lodge, and the lodge holds a ballot at the following meeting.
Initiation
You are initiated, receive your Lodge Tie and are given a mentor to guide you through your first years.
Founding members
Already a Master Mason? Become a founder.
A founding consecration is a once-in-a-lodge-lifetime event. Founding places are limited and are being filled by those who come forward first; the lodge will open with around 30 founding members.
Founders make a one-off founding contribution towards the consecration, the warrant and the lodge's foundations, and attend the consecration ceremony and Festive Board. Full details are in the founders' letter, available from the Secretary.

Good to know
Do I need to play rugby?
No. The lodge is for anyone who loves the game: players past and present, coaches, referees, club volunteers, parents of youth players and supporters.
Who can become a Freemason?
Any man of good character, over the age of 21, who believes in a Supreme Being, regardless of faith. Women can join Freemasonry through the women's Grand Lodges.
When can I join?
Now is the time to register your interest. The lodge will be consecrated in 2027, and receiving propositions for initiation and joining is part of the business of the consecration meeting itself.
What does it cost?
The annual subscription is expected to be £200, index-linked, with dining at each meeting charged separately as it varies by venue. Initiation and joining fees will be confirmed at consecration. We'll give you exact figures before you commit.
How much time does it take?
Three regular meetings a year, in January, May and October, plus club events and socials if you want to come. As much or as little as life and the season allow.
Where does the lodge meet?
Our administrative home is Mayflower Place in Hertingfordbury, but this is a peripatetic lodge: we take our meetings out to rugby clubs and venues across the county.
Is it a secret society?
No. Our meetings, members and charity work are open about who we are. The only things kept private are the traditional modes of recognition.
